Back to the 'Girls of the Bug Patrol'
Now let's see the rest of the place.  come on, as we go out to the back beyond the house to see the 'girls', gourds, garden, studio and the nature trail area.

The Girls of the Bug Patrol' do not like hawks. They squawk and run under the trees when one comes around.

All of the poultry carry the same name.
Their prime objective is to eat bugs, so they are
called "The Girls of the Bug Patrol", or for
short "Girls".  I couldn't even begin to
remember 165 beaks by separate names.

Tom the Royal Palm turkey was a grand bird and lived for many years.  His story is in the book.  I now have Bourbon Red, Bronze and Black Spanish and the original royal palm hen.  Since I purchased them as chicks in 2000 the flock has grown to 16.  The hens have had several clutches of eggs and have chosen some unusual places to nest.  The top of a storage frig, the recycle bin area and under bushes in the greenhouse  area.  Every where expect the coop where the nest boxes are.  They have produced a number of white and brown speckled offspring, along with black, and bronze.
In the above picture on the right is the royal palm hen and
the black spanish tom.  They now have 14 more buddies
that have grown up to be part of the turkey gang.
